The bluebonnets bloomed later this year after a Texas’ huge February freeze. When I began to see them popping up around town on my walks, I was overjoyed. The bright, warm background of this piece represents that joy after a particularly hard winter for those of us in Texas.

This original oil painting was created using artist quality oil bars—one of my favorite media. I use them to draw directly on the canvas with oil paint and create rich textures.

The canvas is made of heavyweight cotton stretched on a frame 1.5” deep. The painting continues around each edge of the canvas. It has been varnished with a clear, protective coat and does not need to be framed. This piece comes with a hanging wire attached and is immediately ready to go on your wall.
